Qantas Maintenance Hangar (Impulse Airlines)

Completed
2001

Location
Canberra

The Impulse Hangar was designed to provide a heavy maintenance engineering facility for aircraft at Canberra International Airport. The development is an assembly of three integral parts, an exterior apron, the hangar, and a support annex.

The apron area facilitates the manoeuvring of aircraft in and out of the adjacent hangar in addition to providing additional space for aircraft service and overnight parking. The hangar is a light weight steel and rod structure that provides a clear span of 85 metres to fit two Boeing 737-800s or three 717-200s or one Boeing 767. In addition to the Aircraft hangar an adjoining maintenance support annex is provided, which comprises of stores, engineering support and administration.
