Responsibility for the strategic planning of the Nation’s Capital requires constant diligence, holistic planning, and collaboration with external and internal stakeholders. DJAS’ sought to incorporate these characteristics for the National Capital Authority’s (NCA) new fitout within the Treasury Building.
Small floorplates; high connectivity
Working with the existing Treasury Building was a significant challenge for the project team. The centralised location of stairs, lifts, and services prevents an open plan approval to workspace layouts. This limitation created a unique opportunity for the NCA; breakout spaces and collaboration areas were located on these primary circulation pathways, with ‘glimpses’ created between workspaces and collaborative areas.
Narrative & Public engagement
With almost a century of evolution, the NCA has a strong pedigree of personalities and performance for creating and implementing the National Capital Plan. This deep history has been incorporated throughout the fitout through displayed exhibition items and environmental graphics.
