Daryl Jackson Alastair Swayn Pty Ltd (DJAS) were engaged to redefine the existing southern forecourt as the primary building entrance to the Commonwealth heritage listed John Gorton Building.

The forecourt is the main entrance of the building, and as such is a key meeting place for occupants and visitors.  The design includes areas of short term seating with timber slats to improve the thermal comfort of those using the area, particularly suitable for a southern aspect. Materials and finishes are high quality precast concrete and Australian granite, complementary to the character of the building, and its position within the Parliamentary Triangle. The forecourt composition is inspired by Art Deco motifs which are featured throughout the existing building.
