A major new building connects the existing Sports Science Sports Medicine building and the existing Multi Sport Hall, forming the new AIS Service Hub complex. It comprises three distinct forms: the new Athletes Testing Hall and Indoor Running Track, and a new three storey laboratory and office building. A primary design objective was to provide a highly legible internal circulation system that interconnects all buildings in the Hub complex. Light-filled galleries/corridors on all levels are connected by voids and staircases, and overlook the staff cafe and landscaped courtyard on ground level. The design provides functional spaces and relationships for a variety of highly specialised activities. Through the interstitial spaces and connections it also creates a sense of enlivenment and activity that reflect these endeavours.
