James is an Architect with over 25 years experience and is one of the Directors at DJAS. As a Director of the Practice, he is responsible for design team development, design development, ESD documentation and construction superintendence of major projects. James is a much respected mentor to up and coming designers.

James was involved in much of the development of the Brindabella Business Park and was Project Architect for the first 5 Star Green Star commercial building in Australia, at 8 Brindabella Circuit. Simultaneously he ran projects such as the Mt Stromlo redevelopment and Master Plan after the 2003 bushfires in Canberra; Australian National University’s (ANU) Arab and Islamic Studies Centre; ANU Research School of  Physical Sciences; Defence Russell Offices R3 and R4 refurbishment.

James has guided many Commonwealth agencies through his client advocacy roles, base building brief writing and technical design delivery and his steady hand of leadership has been demonstrated with the delivery of the Home Affairs project and a multitude of Defence Office Accomodation projects where James was the design director. His guidance, starting with base building briefing through to functional design brief and project delivery.

James places a focus on the functional planning apects of a project and believes the workflow processes amd functional relationships in conjunction with humanistic requirements of light, shelter and space combine to form architecture that works.
