The Practice

Daryl Jackson Alastair Swayn (DJAS) was established by Daryl Jackson and Alastair Swayn in Canberra in 1987, and is now one of the City’s largest architectural and interior design practices with a professional staff of 25.

DJAS  is part of the national Jackson Architecture practice that was established in Melbourne in 1964 and now has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and Brisbane.

Quality, OHS&E Certification and Management

DJAS recognises that it has a responsibility to comprehensively meet contractual obligations to design, document, and administer works under construction in a manner that complies fully with the requirements of our client’s brief, the conditions of engagement, legislation, and the requirements of authorities.

DJAS has developed and implemented robust control systems. We comply with AS/NZS IS0 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems – Requirements (Registration Number 2192) and is audited annually by Davis Langdon Quality Management Pty Ltd. Our systems have also been 2nd party audited for AS/NZS 4801:2001 for Occupational Health and Safety Systems and AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems.

Jackson Architecture has gained a national and international reputation for high quality design based on an ability to synthesise the conflicting demands of creativity, planning, staff involvement, cost effectiveness and quality design.

The practice specialises in institutional, government and commercial projects.
